Wasatch SC teams are structured within
Academy, X-League, and Competition (Traditional and Elite) programs.
Together, these programs encompass all of our teams in each age division and skill level.
UYSA structures competition soccer levels based on age. Academy (U7-U8), X-League (U9-U12), and Traditional Competition teams (U13-U19). Each of these groups is again broken down into competitive divisions (Premiere 1, Premiere 2, D1, D2, D3, A, B, C, D, etc...) which is based on how the team performs. Each team has the opportunity to move up divisions if they perform well in Fall and Spring seasons.
Wasatch Soccer Club offers a higher level of training for our most competitive teams in each age group, called our "Elite" program. Elite teams typically compete at the D1 and Premiere levels, train more often, and travel to more tournaments (including out of state). There is no guarantee an Elite team will be available at every age group as it is determined by the success of the best team(s) in each age group, but every player has the opportunity to tryout for an Elite team where they exist. Elite level players also pay a monthly coaching fee between $10 -$50 based on the coach's credentials, license level, experience, etc.
Traditional Comp/Club teams make up the majority of our club and nearly all of these teams have a volunteer head coach (Elite teams have a paid coach). The coaching staff work directly with the Lead age group coach and Directors to ensure player development is the primary goal for every team. Traditional teams typically average 2-3 sessions weekly (practice, training, and games) and usually compete in local tournaments rather than travelling out of state.
ACADEMY (U7-U8): All UYSA Players in the U7-U8 age group play in the Academy program. Academy is still considered "competitive" soccer, not a recreation program. Academy teams are more focused on individual player development (technical skill), where they introduce small group concepts as they complete in small-sided competitive games on smaller fields.
- U7 and U8 play 4v4, no goalies.
X-LEAGUE (U9-U12): All UYSA Players in the U9-U12 age groups play in the X-League. X-League is still considred "competitive" soccer, not a recreation program. X-League teams are still focused on individual player development (technical skill) but start to introduce team concepts and tactical play.
- U9 and U10 play 7v7, with goalies.
- U11 and U12 play 9v9, with goalies.
COMPETITION (U13-U19): All UYSA Players in the U11-U19 age group play traditional "competition" soccer.
- U13 - U19 play 11v11, with goalies.
*ELITE (any age): Wasatch specific offering for only Premiere and D1 level teams. These are regular competition teams but are offered a more serious training/playing environment. Your child may try out to be on one of these teams where they exist, but there is no guarantee that an Elite team is available in your childs age group as it is dependent on the success of the team.
