Our History

Originally called Wasatch Thunder Youth Athletics and started by Farrell Lewis and others in 1988, the club began with a single boys team named Wasatch Thunder and a girls team named Wasatch Lightning. In the beginning, it was little more than a handful of kids and parents with a passion for soccer,  over the years Wasatch SC has attracted some special people who have helped shape and mold that passion into the organization it is now.

Bob Taylor became acquainted with the club in 2004. Even then, although the club was small in number, he could see the potential it could have for youth soccer in the community. Since then Bob served as President and as a coach to countless teams. In 2013, Bob stepped away from the club.

In 1989, one year after the club’s inception, the first Wasatch Soccer Classic Tournament was held – a now Memorial-day tradition in the Utah soccer community. The profits from the first few years of the tournament were donated to the Ronald McDonald House and the Davis School District for computers. Since then, profits are principally used to pay for club needs, such as indoor space for winter training, maintenance of fields, and scholarships.

Wasatch SC now has over 80 teams covering ages U-7 to U-19, comprising both girls and boys teams.  On average, there are over 1100 soccer players who wear the Wasatch SC uniform and close to 2400 total members associated with the club.

Wasatch SC is centered in the Kaysville—Layton area, and have many members from surrounding cities.
